The world around us is moving so fast that it is not possible to believe and impossible to carry on with the pace of advancement in latest technology. It seems like only a few years ago that computers were seen in the markets for the first time and now they are being used in almost each field of life. Similar is the case with almost all the advance technologies.

One day we see a new product in the market and the next day we find a much improved and enhanced version of the same product. Automobile industry is also a part of this rapid progress in technology and gadgetry. The vehicles of the present times work on principles and feature gadgets, which were only thought by our ancestors.

It seems like only a few years back the first automobile was introduced to the public and people looked at them with great surprise and interest. Presently those vehicles are being improved to minimise power utilization, air pollution and adds to the overall efficiency and safety of the motor.

On one hand, companies are striving to create safer and more reasonable automobiles for the future generation and on the other hand, there are people who are working on high speed vehicles to break speed records and make the dream of motor sports fanatics a reality.

All automobiles are build with an engine, which is used for vehicle propulsion, one way, or the other. Different engines are made using different technologies and use different sources of energy for performing, more or like the same function. The future can be seen as the time of hybrid cars, which are more efficient than any of their predecessors, both in terms of technology and power use.

Usually, a hybrid car is one, which uses more than one source of power to run the engine. Hybrid cars uses the power from more than one source and therefore are more efficient than average cars. Another bonus benefit of a hybrid car is that it is pollution free normally. Normally, a hybrid car combines electric power with gasoline power to turn the wheels of the vehicle. Some hybrid cars use two different types of fuels for the combustion engine.

Some cars can consume natural gas and petroleum alternatively while there are some cars, which utilize hydrogen as a secondary or primary fuel source and produce much less pollution than any other fuel source. The fact that hybrid cars combine two different sources and consume their power simultaneously, enhances the fuel efficiency of the vehicles, lessens pollution levels.

Hydrogen based hybrid cars are considered as the most pollution free and efficient as hydrogen combustion renders more raw power and the by-product of the whole combustion process is water, which is perfectly safe for the environment. Gasoline-electric hybrid cars also have batteries and generators, which use the motion of the car to render electric current and store it in the batteries, which makes them more energy efficient. Some hybrid cars also utilise ethanol as a fuel source, on the other hand the limited availability of ethanol as a fuel source, limits their functionality and efficiency.
